Hear from those who paved the way this Pride alongside younger generation members of the LGBTQ+ community. Honor your history! Last year for Pride we partnered with Gerber/Hart LGBTQ+ Library and Archives to bring a sold out Elder Queer Panel to Dorothy. This Pride season we're partnering again, this time with the LGBTQ+ Intergenerational Dialogue Project, bringing the younger and older generations together in dialogue about queerness over time.

Our featured panelists include: Phyllis Johnson, Kathy Munzer, Lonnie Kenebrew, and Darrell Hill. Our younger facilitator for the elder panel will be Katia Ellise Klemm.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATIONS Gerber/Hart is a LGBTQ+ library and archives located in the Rogers Park neighborhood in Chicago. Founded in 1981, Gerber/Hart is one of the largest repositories of LGBTQ+ content in the world. Gerber/Hart focuses on collecting, preserving, and making accessible the LGBTQ history and culture of Chicago and the Midwest. The LGBTQ+ Intergenerational Dialogue Project brings together racially, socioeconomically, and gender diverse cohorts of LGBTQ+ younger (19-26) and older adults (60+) for year-long series of bi-weekly themed dialogues, collaborative art-making, shared meals, and a culminating public art exhibition. Now entering its sixth year, the project is led by an intergenerational team of LGBTQ+ students, elders, social service providers, and faculty members from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, University of Illinois-Chicago, University of Chicago, and Center on Halsted. ABOUT THE HOST Kaitlyn Griffith is a memory worker, and organizer with a deep love for people’s history. As an archivist and instructor, she ensures the preservation and research value of historical material at the Chicago Park District, and teaches a field work class at Dominican University, which connects students to the oral history archive of Free ‘Em All Radio, a joint project between Chairman Fred Hampton Jr., the Black Panther Party Cubs, and The Lady of Rage. In her time volunteering with Gerber/Hart, Griffith has worked on the personal papers of lesbian poet Yvonne Zipter, and a collection from FORTUNE, a print collective assembled by/for queer and trans Asians, among other projects. Storytelling and intergenerational connection hold a special place in her heart, and she is honored to serve as facilitator for this extraordinary event.
