Biographical / Historical
“John Daniel Hagenhofer (1913-1981) was born on December 6, 1913 in Chicago, IL and [resided] in Boston, MA. He has worked as a painter, illustrator, cartoonist, designer, and WPA artist. Hagenhofer studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. He was a member and exhibitor of the Boston Artists Union.”*
Materials from this collection were exhibited by Gerber Hart in 2016, and showcased over 70 drawings (the earliest from 1936), 200+ photographs from the mid-1930s, and correspondence with his brother from the early 1950s.
