Collection documents Allen Wardell's personal and professional life through photographs, a piece of artwork, an address book, correspondence, manuscripts, a Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame award, Gay Chicago Award, and press clippings.

The collection consists of organizational records and political organizing minutes for the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and the Illinois National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, subject files on state and municipal gay politics, report cards for many Illinois elected officials, files on specific state bills, fliers, press releases, and press clippings.

The collection consists of meeting agendas, bylaws, correspondence, administrative records, member lists, workshop packets, and minutes of various committees, including Media Affairs and Discrimination. Binder #1 retained to show original format of materials. Additional years were removed from binders and transferred to acid-free folders.
